چکیده

PurposeThe nerve sliding technique (NST) was introduced for repairing inferior alveolar (IAN) defect and overcoming the disadvantages of conventional surgical treatment methods such as graft. This study conducted to identify factors associated with functional sensory recovery (FSR) following repair using NST.Patients MethodsThis a retrospective cohort including all patients who underwent IAN NST at Seoul National University Dental Hospital, Department Oral Maxillofacial Surgery from February 2009 March 2020. The damaged part excised, incisive branch transected intentionally perform direct anastomosis without tension. Cox proportional hazard analysis utilized determine relationships between predictor variables (age, gender, chief complaints, preoperative results, duration injury repair, length tissue resected during procedure, neuroma formation) outcome variable (time FSR).ResultsThe sample composed 16 mean age 56.1 ± 10.1 years, 25% were males 75% females. gap deficit 7.69 mm (3-15 mm). Ten (62.5%) achieved FSR median time operative 84.5 days. implant placement found main cause (93.8%) 56.2% complained hypoesthesia dysesthesia. Factors 1 year age, complaint, early repair. Younger (P = .041) dysesthesia .019) more likely achieve FSR. Higher proportion group FSR, although not statistically significant .068).ConclusionsThe use in defects up 15 62.5% absence higher NST. FSR). .068).

Functional sensory recovery after trigeminal nerve repair.

PURPOSE The aim of this study was to estimate the proportion of subjects who achieved functional sensory recovery (FSR) 1 year after inferior alveolar or lingual nerve repair and to identify risk factors associated with failure to achieve FSR. METHODS Using a retrospective cohort study design, we developed a sample composed of subjects who underwent lingual or inferior alveolar nerve repair. ...

Factors Affecting Recovery of Sensory Function after Nerve Lesions.

MOST of our knowledge of the processes of sensory recovery after nerve lesions is derived from human cases. Indeed, in some ways man is most suitable for such work, because he can give verbal information about the quality of sensation which is felt. But there are many problems which can only be solved by the comparison of recovery under conditions which differ in respect of one variable only, s...

Lateralization Technique and Inferior Alveolar Nerve Transposition

Bone resorption of the posterior mandible can result in diminished bone edge and, therefore, the installation of implants in these regions becomes a challenge, especially in the presence of the mandibular canal and its contents, the inferior alveolar nerve. Several treatment alternatives are suggested: the use of short implants, guided bone regeneration, appositional bone grafting, distraction ...

Evaluation of knowledge and experience on the success of inferior alveolar nerve block technique

Background and Aims: The inferior alveolar nerve block (IANB) is the most frequently used technique for mandibular anesthesia. Due to the many factors which can cause its failure, the aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of experience and knowledge in the success rate of IANB technique. Materials and Methods: : In this study, 115 students of Shiraz Dental school were participated in ...

Anesthetic Efficacy of Inferior Alveolar Nerve Block: Conventional versus Akinosi Technique

Objective: Anesthetic techniques like the Akinosi technique were introduced to surmount the problems of the conventional inferior alveolar nerve block (IANB) technique. This study aimed to compare the local anesthetic efficacy of IANB via the conventional and Akinosi techniques in patients presenting to the Maxillofacial Surgery Department of School of Dentistry, Shahid Beheshti University. Me...
